There will also be live music, a hog roast, and much more…
This fantastic one-day event will also see the return of the legendary Battle of the Bangers, sponsored by Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management. Ten of the county’s best butchers will battle it out to be crowned winner of the judges and public votes by tempting visitors into St Peter’s Street, where they can taste a selection of mouth-watering sausages. This is the fourteenth year that the Battle of the Bangers returns and organisers have confirmed that it will also be the last.
Sarah de Chair, Chair of Norfolk Food & Drink, explains: “The Battle of the Bangers has been an integral part of the Norwich Food & Drink Festival for the last 14 years. Whilst the festival may have moved around, grown, shrunk and grown again into the incredible celebration it is today, one thing has remained the same – the Battle of the Bangers. It is particularly poignant as well this year that Health & Safety Consultants RedCat has returned to run the day, as they made the very first event possible with their sponsorship. Every year since, we have looked to the amazing butchers to take part and it really is no small undertaking, involving over 1,000 lbs of sausage meat every year – so we have decided it is time to let them hang up their aprons and enjoy a well-deserved rest. But not, of course, before one final epic Battle…!”
Paul Pearce, of sponsors, Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management has supported the Battle of the Bangers for a number of years and this year is joined by Sarah Daniels of The RedCat Partnership, to ensure that the event goes out with a bang(er)! Paul said : “We are so grateful to every single person who has participated in Battle of the Bangers over the years and it has been a privilege to be involved. Judging is always such a challenge, as the standard never fails to exceed expectations, so we look forward to this last Battle and to crowning whoever comes out on top!”
Sarah Daniels confirmed that the butchers have been even more keen than usual to take part, knowing that this is their last year to come out on top! Sarah said “We have been thrilled by the enthusiasm from the butchers and we are so pleased to be working with Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management and Norfolk Food & Drink to bring this event to Norwich for the last time.”.
Organisers are delighted to welcome Cozens-Hardy solicitors back as headline sponsors for the fourth consecutive year.
Anna Farquharson, Marketing Principal of Cozens-Hardy LLP said: "We are delighted to extend our sponsorship of the Norwich Food & Drink Festival which we all look forward to with much excitement here at the firm! We are passionate advocates of our local food and drink industry; we are proud to have looked after generations of farming families and recognise how valuable the food and drink industry is to Norfolk.
Joining Cozens-Hardy in their support of the festival is an impressive line-up of sponsors and supporters, including Lovewell Blake accountants, Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, The RedCat Partnership, Creative Sponge, The Forum, Ben Burgess, 101 Smart Messenger, Alison Sparrow Violinist and Norwich Print Solutions.
Anna Stevenson, Co-ordinator for Norfolk Food & Drink explained “We are a not-for-profit organisation, which receives no public funding, so we are 100% dependent on the support of these amazing companies and individuals who give so generously, either financially or their goods and services in kind, allowing us to continue to host this as a free event in the heart of the city. So, our sincere thanks to them all as without them, the Norwich Food & Drink Festival quite simply would not happen”.
Founded in 2004, Norfolk Food & Drink Ltd has grown year on year and now offers a year-round programme of events, delivering support to organisers and promoting the many retailers, restauranteurs, producers and events which make up the burgeoning and diverse food and drink industry here in Norfolk. The Norwich Food & Drink Festival is a key event in the organisation’s calendar of events and is completely free for the public to attend.
